Microsoft's own list of IE add-ons

MS just rolled out an IE add-on listing, but I didn't see Avant there! I did see Maxthon, though.:? Rumor is this is sorta in reaction to all the Firefox buzz, showing that IE can do some neat tricks, too. Here's the link: http://windowsmarketplace.com/content.aspx?ctId=63 Here's how to get Avant li...

If I'm reading your first issue correctly, here's the answer. Avant's options to disable ActiveX, Java, etc operate on top of IE's Security Zones. So if you have ActiveX enabled for Trusted Sites, but you have ActiveX disabled in Avant's Browsing Options, then it's disabled in Avant for ALL sites Tr...

The next best thing to having toggle buttons for Java, ActiveX, etc is this Trust Setter tool for IE. It adds right-click Security Zone functionality to Avant (it also adds toolbar buttons in IE): http://www.jasons-toolbox.com/programs.asp?Program=Trust%20Setter Basically, it's a quick & easy way to...

I experienced some minor bugs with the broadbandreports.com forums a while ago, but they have been fixed in the last 2 versions, so I'd make sure you're using the latest version 10.0.030. Since it appears to work fine in IE, verify that any needed scripting isn't disabled in AB's options, which oper...

Security Zone Bug

I've noticed that sometimes the Security Zone in the lower right-hand corner is blank (doesn't update properly). I see this sometimes while browsing, but can reproduce it most reliably on startup of AB. I have 3 home pages that load with AB, 2 Trusted & 1 Restricted. About half the time, the active ...

Still broken in 10.0.029. :(

Other than that, AB looks pretty darn good now with support for IE's Privacy Report & Security Zones! :) (Can support for SSL certificate info be far behind?)

This is my first time back to Avant in a while, I just got fed up with Crazy Browser's lack of options. I'm very pleased to see that the IE Privacy Report is now supported. Now if we could just get the IE Security Zone icon supported, Avant would be perfect! (Either that or individual toggle buttons...

Secure Icon Wrong!

The lock icon on the bottom of the screen that says "You are browsing a 128 bit SSL secured web site" or "You are browsing an ordinary web site" can be wrong. I just noticed this today when I set a secure page to auto refresh in the background (a very nice feature by the way) and while reading a non...

The problem with using an ad blocking image is that it could be larger than the image it's meant to replace. If the page designer hasn't specified the size of the ad in the page design, which often happens, then the blocking image will be to large for the page layout, throwing the whole page off. E...

Another possibility for what Brade is experiencing is AB's inability to run multiple processes. I believe this would only manifest itself if you've asked AB to save a web page (File->Save->Save as type *.htm, *.html, *.mht). In these cases, AB can't do anything else, like let you view other open tab...

Google Page Rank, Avant Search Bar, & Privacy

Does the Avant search bar have any direct relationship to the Google Toolbar? Or is it similar in appearance only? The reason I ask is I want to avoid any "phoning home" like the Google Toolbar does by default: Note that using advanced features such as PageRank automatically sends the URLs of the si...

If AB were able to run in multiple instances (like IE), would that answer this problem? If so, go here http://forum.avantbrowser.com/viewtopic.php?t=5633 and vote for that feature to be included in a future release.

Sounds like several great minds are thinking the same thing. In this thread Of course, like a lot of feature requests, if we just had a tool for picking menu options and adding a button or hotkey for everything listed, requests like this wouldn't be necessary. and in this thread ... Agreed, Logan. I was just seconding Esteban's broad general point that such a tool would allow users to address many feature requests themselves. :D
