I guess it's the missing "Automatically save all opened pages when exiting Avant Browser" checked option and the unchecked "Display confirmation when opening saved pages".

Why do you want to open a blank page first?
Just set up AB that it opens new addresses in a new tab.

I guess you're looking at the wrong place.
As you can see, there are no proxies listed in the menu on the left.
