Running two versions

Post by Den » Sat Sep 23, 2006 7:47 am

I have version 10.2 build 52 installed. Is it possible to install the new version 11.0 build 5 in an other directory and run both versions on the same computer without problems.

I don't think it'll cause any problems because AB11 is using a different directory from AB10.
IE8(Pro), Microsoft Security Essentials
Main PC:

Secondary PC same as primary but with Windows 7 x64 Ultimate as the OS.

Thanks for the tip; but I am still a bit worried about the settings in "Documents and Settings"; maybe someone will an opinion on that.

Thanks again for your information

That's what I meant.
Avant Browser 10 is using the "Avant Browser" directory while 11 is using "Avant Profiles".
IE8(Pro), Microsoft Security Essentials

 Sorry

That's marvellous. I will be able to keep the old version while testing the new version.

Your help is very appreciated.

If I understand well, I'm a lucky guy asking this question at this precise moment where settings are going from "Avant Browser" directory for version 10 to "Avant Profiles" for version 11.

So on the next update, let's say build 6 of version 11, it won't be possible to keep build 5 and install build 6 on the same computer.

It can be useful, when you want to do clean install of new version, but want to configure new version from its default state to the state of previous version.

I did install version 11, was surprise by all the modifications. Issues with the Search module, with the link bar not showing etc. So had to completely reinstall ver 10.2 and was afraid to lose all my settings in the process.

I taught it would be easier, if in the future, if I could keep the old version installed and test any new version;

abfan123 gave me the solution through his comments: just keep version 10 build 52 because of it's special directory and test the new versions until it meet my needs or get used to.

Thanks for all your help.
