I have been a happy user of Avant Browser for over 2 years and install upgrades when offered. However, since I installed this latest upgrade (11.5 build 9) I have no Internet access. I am running Windows 2000. My e-mail works. I can use I E 6. I uninstalled Avant Browser and tried downloading an earlier version and build (several). None could access the Internet.

Any suggestions???

Hello,
Please try to remove and re-add avant.exe into your firewall's exceptions list.
IE8(Pro), Microsoft Security Essentials
Main PC:
Image
Secondary PC same as primary but with Windows 7 x64 Ultimate as the OS.

OK - this is going to sound very dumb but where would I find this? I'm not aware that I have a firewall.

A Firewall can be part of a Security Suite like Norton or free-standing like Zone-Alarm. Some, like Zone-Alarm, have been known to do this even after they've been removed.

While XP has a built in firewall I'm sot sure that 2000 does.

A firewall is important to protect your computer from mal-ware along with an antivirus program.

It seems my Zone Alarm was corrupted. I uninstalled it and re-installed a new download and am back in business with Avant Browser. And, no, Win 2000 does not have a firewall.
