Links Bar Icons
It would be cool if we could change or remove the Icons on Favorites in the Links Bar.

Another request for this featurePaulieWalnuts20 wrote:I have several folders containing links as well as several direct links in my Links toolbar. One thing bugs me about Avants Links toolbar and that is my inability to remove those two icons at the very left of the toolbar. I want to remove the "Add the current page to Links" icon and the "Organize Links" icon to free up more space on my Links toolbar. Is there any way to remove those two buttons? I have looked all over the Browser preference options and I cannot find a way to eliminate those buttons. I'd happily edit a config file if I knew where to start. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Are you talking about FavIcons? If so, there's been a request for Avant to have an in-house function to retrieve them here.
But, you can also check out this post of mine with some links to programs that will do this for you.
Also, if you set IE as your default, you'll regain the Web Document tab when you right-click your Favorites which will also allow you to change the icon.

folder icons
I am refering to folders not individual links. When I right click on a folder in my favorites in IE, choose properties, under the customize tab there is the option to change the icon for the folder. When I do this, the default folder icon shows in avant instead of the new icon.

Okay, now I know what you mean.
Personally, I think this is a bug. It started with v8 Build 207 when FavIcon support was added. We used to be able to skins those folders and then we couldn't.
I initially thought that they were using Windows' system foldesr, but then noticed that changing the folder in Windows didn't change them in Avant, either.
I posted that, but can't find it right now. If I do, I'll post the link here.

This was one of the first features I requested as a newbie a few months ago. There have been a few builds since then but I'm still waiting for the ability to hide these 2 icons and get the space back so that I can add 2 more useful icons to my links bar. This feature seems somewhat of a no-brainer to me. Any idea when we'll get it?hornakapopolis wrote:Another request for this featurePaulieWalnuts20 wrote:I have several folders containing links as well as several direct links in my Links toolbar. Just my vote for this as well.cgirlz wrote:Is there any way to get rid of the Add/ and Organize buttons on the "Links Bar"? I find that they just take up needed horizontal space and are of little use as infrequently as they are needed compared to just rarely going into the menu. Thanks

Re: Links Bar Icons
I strongly support the idea of getting rid of the Add/ and Organize/ buttons on the Links Bar. They take up needless space, and could be easily replaced by a simple right click on the Links Bar. I'm a new user, and I thought for sure the buttons could be hidden, or at least dragged to the end of the Links list. I like to keep my toolbars as free from clutter as possible. I spent an hour trying to right click all over the Links Bar, with no luck. Please give us the option to remove/hide/move these two buttons. Thank you!Gemini wrote:It would be cool if we could change or remove the Icons on Favorites in the Links Bar.
